말레이시아의 국영자동차 회사 프로톤(Proton)이 위라(Wira) 모델 3000대를 인도네시아로 수출하네요. 프로톤은 1985년부터 본격 생산체제에 들어간 후발주자로 영국과 호주 등 영연방 국가에 차를 수출하고 있지요. 위라(Wira), 뻐르다나(Perdana), 와자(Waja), 젠-2(Gen-2) 등이 프로톤의 대표적인 생산 모델이랍니다.
인도네시아는 수입한 위라를 택시 용도로 사용할 것이라고 합니다. 말레이시아와 도로 여건 등이 비슷한 인도네시아에서 프로톤의 택시들이 거리를 누비면 아무래도 인지도가 높아지겠지요.
